Green Marines

Nothing like a tournament only days away to motivate you to paint... a lot!

Partly because work has been crazy and life just busy in general, plus the fact that I'm a major procrastinator, I haven't really painted anything for awhile. But with the NOVA Charity BBQ tournament (now only a day away) and the desire to play something different, here I am frantically painting up a bunch of marines. Basing the scheme off of the Raptors chapter, it actually paints up pretty quickly and easily. It's not going to be the prettiest thing as I'm mainly focusing on the primary colors and consistent bases, but it'll put me in a good spot to actually finish up the details if I decide to play a similar list for NOVA at the end of the summer.

It'll be my third trip to the NOVA Open and I'm stoked to be returning to such an epic and awesome wargaming convention! I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces again and rolling some dice for a few days :)

Anyway, back to the BBQ event this Saturday... I'm really looking forward to it! It's a great event to test a new list at with some heavy hitting players in attendance and to practice more of the NOVA missions. I'm looking forward to meeting some people in person for the first time who I've met through the blog and the broader 40k online community. It should be good times indeed. I'll try to get another progress post up tomorrow along with my list to post the day of. Let's see what I can get done in the next 24 hours!

  1. Good luck with the painting :)

Doing that many models in such a short space of time would kill me!

    1. Thanks Nafnaf! I'm aiming for 3-4 color minimums at this point plus bases just so things look OK from the tabletop, so a lot of batch painting which is monotonous but I enjoy seeing the progress. The fine details will come later but I've got some time between now and September to finish all of that. My list has a number of vehicles too and I'm really wishing I had an airbrush to tackle those...

    1. You too Greg! Should be a great event. I've seen your gretchin and other recent work on the warboss and it all looks amazing! It's seriously on a whole different level than what I'm able to produce. I strive to someday have models that look that good, but you'll see tomorrow the huge difference between your last minute painting and mine ;) Haha, see you tomorrow man!

    2. Joe,
I've video'd most of the entire process, should be up next week hopefully. When you see just how easy it is, you will laugh out loud.

It is literary just throwing a wash on the model a bunch of times. The wash does all the shading, highlighting, magic. It's super easy!

I find doing marines about 100x more difficult, as you have to be waaay more precise!

I'm hoping that I win or loss really big in one or two games so I have time to walk around and take photos of everyones awesome stuff!
