Raven Guard Venerable Dreadnought

Sunday, March 13, 2011

I was finally able to devote some time to this Venerable dreadnought over the weekend. It's been on my table for awhile now (along with a few others, but I think we all know how that goes).

A good friend of mine recently sent me some nice fine-detail brushes that I've been trying to get the hang of all week. I'm in that place where I really want to crank stuff out quickly, but a lot of my models are at the stage where I need to slow down and take my time on the details. Speed will come with practice I'm sure. I also have a hard time saying "I'm finished" with a model. Especially since I know I have more edging and highlighting I can do to make certain features pop. But a certain distraction came over the weekend (much sooner than I anticipated)...

Yes, you guessed it, my Forge World order! If you couldn't tell from the perfect Raven Guard icon on the front of the dreadnought. There's no way I could freehand such an emblem, but if you're interested, here's a fantastic article on how to do it from FTW. And if you really want to see something that will make you cry and want to pack away all your paints, check this out (scroll down to the pic of the RG Captain's cloak).

Excellent stuff. And while we're on the subject, I just want to say thank you to all those out there who keep blogs and share their hobby adventures and what they're working on. I'm pretty new to blogging and this is the first honest attempt I've taken at trying to fully paint my army, but I have to say I don't know where I'd be without the support and inspiration I get from some of your blogs. I've started a blog-roll to the right filled with a bunch of great sites & resources for anything 40k or hobby related that I come across.

Anyway, I should have more on the Forge World goodies this coming week. Lots of fun projects around the bend.

High five!
